Creative Reuse Silver Spring is a community project run by Happy Little Art Studio.
This project is now in it’s third year of operation.
Silver Spring Creative Reuse collects unwanted art and office supplies from our community and then donates these items to teachers for educational repurposing.
Working out of Michelle's basement with limited resources and space, we have already collected and redistributed office and art supplies to over 100 schools.
Supplies have been given to MCPS, PGCPS, and DCPS public schools, many private schools, afterschool programs, and local non-profits in the area.
In collecting, materials, we have connected with over 200 donors.
We have dreams of a much larger organization -- a physical space where that not only houses the materials but also serves as an educational space for both students and teachers.
We have a strong desire to build the connection between creativity and reuse education.
We believe that access to “creative reuse” supplies actually inspires students working creatively.
We are at a critical time with our climate, and we need our children to be ready to tackle this problem creatively.
