I am thrilled with these amazing portraits painted by the students in the Sunday Morning Drawing & Painting class. I started this lesson a few weeks back by explaining to the children that when an artist makes a picture of a person it is called a portrait. When the artist makes a picture of himself or herself it is called a self-portrait. When the portrait shows only the upper half of the figure, rather than the full body, it is referred to as a head-and-shoulders portrait. They were encouraged to peek in the mirror and observe their facial features and to practive drawing what they see. Here are the results of all their hard work!

This weekend was very exciting for me! I had the chance to teach my very first set of Happy Little Art Studio classes. After almost 20 years of teaching art, this was the first time I was teaching as the owner of my own studio. It was so fun to meet and make art with my first group of students. Thanks to all the parents that took the leap with me and are now part of the Happy Little Art Studio family.
